There is a huge number of short-term accommodation options north of the river. Accommodation on the Northside is generally cheaper than the competition in Temple Bar and the Georgian Quarter to the South. Some of the cheapest holiday accommodation options are available near Busáras (the central bus and coach station in Dublin) and Connolly Station – budget hotels and youth hostels are in abundance in this area. Despite Dublin’s vast wealth of hotels it is still best to book at least two weeks in advance.
Two great options include:
- Dublin International Hostel (An Óige) on Mountjoy Street
- Isaac’s Hostel on Frenchman’s Lane
Isaacs Hostel
Isaacs Hostel is a good choice for those holidaying in Dublin on a small budget.
Last-minute options
If you are travelling to Dublin on an unplanned short break you should still be able to find accommodation when you arrive and, in these circumstances, the Northside is probably the best place to look. There are lots of bed and breakfasts in the streets that surround O’Connell Street, and also in the streets that intersect Amiens Street, which houses Busáras and Connolly Station. If you will be arriving off the ferry without having booked accommodation in advance then these streets are the best ones to start your search.
